We are extremely proud of the fact that we are a nearly paperless office that has received a five star rating from Envirostar.
Envirostar is an independent, nationally recognized organization which certifies businesses that are environmentally responsible and dedicated to reducing hazardous waste.
A five star rating is the highest certification that an organization can receive from Envirostar. It is only given to companies who go above and beyond in their efforts to be environmentally responsible and who are considered leaders in their community or industry in the reduction and prevention of hazardous waste.
One of the main benefits of digital X-rays is that they expose patients to much less radiation than old-fashioned X-rays do. Also, unlike traditional X-rays, with digital photography, we get the results immediately. What’s more, using digital X-rays contributes to our ability to maintain a highly efficient, environmentally friendly paperless office!
We recommend that most patients come in to have their teeth checked and cleaned every six months. The amount of time can vary depending on your oral health, so check with your dentist or dental hygienist.
Your child should have his or her teeth first visually evaluated about six months after he or she gets the first tooth. This is usually around age 12 months. This also gives the dentist an opportunity to discuss your child's dental home care and answer any questions you may have. Children typically have their first dental cleaning at age three. Taking a child to the dentist at an early age helps them become comfortable with the process, and establishes good habits early on in their development.
There are many possible causes of bad breath. It’s important to have regular checkups and cleanings with your dentist, so that he or she can identify any potential problems that can contribute to bad breath or other oral health issues.
Good oral hygiene is also a critical weapon against bad breath. Brush your teeth thoroughly with fluoride toothpaste and floss at least twice a day.
Good oral hygiene habits are the number one defense against tooth decay and gum disease. Brush your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and floss regularly. It’s a good idea to replace your toothbrush every six months. If you are concerned about tooth decay, you should reduce the amount of sugary foods and beverages in your diet. And, of course, get regular checkups and cleanings with your dentist!
If you think you are grinding your teeth, you should talk with your dentist. Chronic grinding and clenching can be damaging to both your teeth and your jaw. Your dentist can fit you with a mouth guard to protect your teeth at night while you sleep. Your dentist can also coach you on techniques you can use to reduce teeth-grinding.
